About Dichroic Art

Neil Buchwalter

A beam of light can pass through a piece of dichroic glass at a specific angle can create a thing of beauty. The stainless steel piece of hardware reflect the light as well as anchor the light to the canvass.

The ability to use these wonderful elements to create an image that is bright, colorful and beautiful is a most satisfying experience. The artist can control some of the properties of light, glass, but not all. You have to work with these natural properties to achieve a harmonious piece of art. Nature, science, and mathematics are part of this creative process. The light passes thru dichroic pieces of glass, changing its colors and shapes as it goes on its infinite journey. The outcome of the process is often determined by following the scene being created rather than bending to the artists will. The artist must embrace these wonderful properties and utilize them into the creative process.

This art form is addictive, time seems to stop and light keeps going on forever.
